Darren's Fight To Fitness

Hi everyone, thank you all in advance for helping Darren and his family. We are Brenda & Catherine, aunts of Darren Ganley. Darren is married to Jo, a full-time mum to Patrick and Nathan. Darren became unwell in early October 2019 and deteriorated after 2 days and attended the A&E department of Flinders Hospital, Adelaide. Australia where he lives. He was rushed to the ICU with suspected Sepsis and later diagnosed with Sepsis with complications. He remained in the ICU for 2 weeks on I.V antibiotics to try to kill the infection. He was peg fed as he was too ill to eat.  He was then in isolation for a further 7 weeks before going home to 24 hour care, after his wife Jo was trained how to take care of him and a nurse attended to him daily. In February this year he began to lose vision in his right eye caused by the Sepsis infection and he was hospitalised again for tests. He continued taking anti-fungal meds to kill the infection and to try to save his stomach. Unfortunately the infection was now spreading and causing Darren immense pain. He had emergency surgery last month April, to remove his stomach. He is on a diet of pureed food. He will never regain the 30% loss of vision and will not be capable of doing any type of physical work in the future. He has lost 7 stone in weight and thankfully he is now at home in Adelaide recovering with his family.
