Darrell Hooper, Sr. Funeral Expenses

Passing of Darrell Hooper, Sr. Director of the Huntingdon County Drop In Center, Inc. and Volunteer with Huntingdon Regional Fire and Rescue.

Dear Friends,

You may know Darrell Hooper, from his work with the Huntingdon County Drop In Center. He not only watched over the day-to-day operations of the Drop In, but was a tireless advocate for the Drop In Members. He took pride in various efforts, which he spearheaded, placing members in a position to support and give back to the community. 

He brought the same dedication and professionalism as a Volunteer with Huntingdon Regional Fire and Rescue. He would be one of the first individuals the public would run into at the scene of an emergency situation, keeping the public at a safe distance, while providing a secure scene for first responders doing their work.

Unfortunately, Darrell passed away on Christmas eve, after a battle with the Covid-19, Coronavirus.

At the request of his sister, Trudi Hooper, I have started a funeral fundraiser to help cover the cost of Darrell's final expenses. The family was not prepared for the unexpected costs of a funeral, and in meeting other financial obligations. During this difficult time we are reaching out to the community for help. A community to which Darrell served with dedication and care.

Darrell leaves behind a minor son, Austin.

We will miss his leadership, his concern, his smile and most of all his friendship. Darrell extended that friendship openly to those he knew for years, or to a stranger in need of a hand.
