What is to be a champion? Beyond the recognition, it’s all the work that no one sees. The daily routine, the consistent demeanor, honest dedication, and above all, the surrounding teamwork. A champion is never alone. A champion is a group willing to take on any challenge and be victorious.
Life has a way of challenging us to be champions in some form every day. Whether preparing cattle, or being a father and a husband, a true perfectionist in his every task, a champion will always rise.
On September 27, our friend Darrell Hansen was diagnosed with a medullablastoma - a malignant brain tumor. Two days later a team of doctors were able to remove the entire tumor. In most situations like this one, results like Darrell’s are seldom seen.
Now, starting early November, Darrell will be undergoing aggressive radiation and chemotherapy treatments to eliminate any remaining cancer cells and aim to prevent future reoccurrence. Life has definitely challenged Darrell and his family, and we have a long road ahead. Just as a champion is surrounded by a team, we are the team surrounding Darrell through this time of need.
Darrell is a champion in every sense of the word. He’s the friend you rely on for humor or for comfort. He’s the organizer of every activity. He’s the supporter of all things youth related. And above all, he’s the friend you never forget. He truly is the type of person to bring a positive atmosphere and an infectious grin to any situation.
This campaign is to support Darrell and his family - his wife, Reba, and 18 month old son, Mac, as they charter life’s course. Any donation - small or large - is truly appreciated.
