Darmell's Recovery

Donation protected
In the early morning hours of Saturday, September 29, 2018, it was simply Darmell's intention to help a friend get his stalled car going. Darmell arrived to the St. Louis County road with a gas can in hand and jumper cables in the trunk. While attempting to add a little gas to the stalled car, a vehicle pulled beside them, let down their window and asked if they were "from the neighborhood," Darmell and his friend quickly responded "no." They thought nothing of the strange encounter as the car drove away. Darmell then made a quick trip to a nearby gas station to get more gas. After the addition of gas to the stalled car was unsuccessful at getting the car going, he thought to jump start the cars battery. Darmell then went to his trunk to grab jumper cables. He first popped his hood, connected the jumper cables to his battery, then he lifted his friends hood. As he is bent over connecting jumper cables to his friends car, unprovoked, the guys who previously drove by, returned on foot . . .  firing multiple weapons in his direction. Darmell was defenseless and caught off guard. The mother of his youngest child, in fear of her safety and the safety of their child (who happened to be in the back seat of their car), frantically drove off to inform his mother and the police.

Darmell was brutally and senselessly shot 7 times. He suffered injuries to one of his hands, ribs, vertebrae in his back, kidneys, and intestines among other things. He is a father, son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. After multiple surgeries, on Sunday, September 30 he was taken off the ventilator, is alert, and is talking by the grace of God.

He has a long road to recovery ahead of him.

Here's how you can help:

First, we ask that you continue to pray for supernatural healing.

Secondly we ask that you consider giving. Our goal is to raise $15,000.

As Darmell recovers from major injuries, he will be forced to take significant time away from work. He has three beautiful children and other substantial financial responsibilities. Although he has employee healthcare, it will not cover all of his medical needs on the long journey to recovery. Our family is asking for your help! Every dime raised will go towards assisting Darmell through this incredibly difficult time.

Thanks for considering,
