Darlene Hays-Coca Funeral and Medical Fund

After watching my husband, Nesto and his brothers, Sam and Andres sit and mourn as their Mom slowly went to heaven, I'm setting this up in the hopes of being able to help them take care of some of the financial burden.

Darlene suddenly became sick at the beginning of 2020. She was admitted to ICU in Albuquerque where she stayed in an induced coma for three weeks while battling a sepsis infection that spread throughout her abdomen and spine. She fought hard and survived but too much damage was done to her Liver. She spent a month in rehabilitation, and was finally able to go home. She continued to care for her grandson Andre, who she had custody of and has raised since he was 4 years old.  While Darlene was never able to get back to 100% health,  she was happy to be home and with her grandson.

She has spent the last 6 months going to doctors and specialists throughout New Mexico. At the end, the infection won and her liver  was failing at a very rapid rate. From the advise of her doctor, the plan to have a liver transplant was put into motion,  but unfortunately we ran out of time and her kidneys started failing being over worked by the failing liver. She was set to arrive at the transplant hospital in Colorado tomorrow, but as you all know, we never got that chance. She was taken to the hospital on Tuesday and  Wednesday the doctor gave us the bad news that we had ran out of time, and there was nothing more we could do for her. Then began an agonizing 5 days sitting at her bedside watching her decline each day, but still holding on hope for some type of miracle.

Friends and family were blessed to be able to visit with her on her final days. Nesto, Sam and Andres sat by their mothers side for 5 days: praying, mourning and talking with her as she made her final journey to heaven.

I saw the pain they have gone through and now have to plan their mom's funeral. We have had a lot of people reach out asking how they can help, and I thought this would be the best way.

Thank you all for any help.
