Hello to all.
Hurricane Harvey has taken a devasting toll. Unfortunately one of the ones that have been effected is our own. When one of co workers is effected we are all effected. Despite the fact that we work remotely we would like to raise funds to help out Darieke Hemphill. My name is Elias Mirabal and I have had the pleasure of working with Darieke for a year now. Despite my work in the NOC in Charlotte, I am aware of the events in Houston and we know what a good person Darieke is. To be displaced during a natural disaster can take a toll on a person.
To give you a little bit of details of what her and her family have gone through you can appreciate below:
They were evacuating their neighbor who is wheelchair bound. They called for medical evacuation, but the team could not get into her neighborhood due to the rising water. She and her son decided to go for help in a canoe, water was up to her chin. Along the way, people were begging to ride in the canoe (people who couldn’t swim, had small children…), so Darieke and her son got out into the water to let others in, pushing the canoe the rest of the way, about 2 miles. Her husband took the neighbor on another small boat and got him to safety as well.
It tugs on your heart to hear about these situations but you can appreciate the self sacrificing spirit of Darieke and her family. Right now the whole house is flooded with water. We hope that you find it in your heart to donate what you can. Our goal is to raise $2,500.00 however let's try to raise 5 times that. The money would be used to help with Hotel accomdations, water, clothes, expenses related to a natural disaster which is well into the thousands. We have set it up so that she can withdraw directly from the Go Fund Me Account that way she has quick access to the money. It would be nice to try to reach this goal and anything extra would surely help her and the family out. Thank you for your generosity.
