I'm raising money for my dear friend who has been violently targeted by phobes this year on top of facing multiple obstacles. Due to this, she has asked to stay anonymous on this platform for her own safety. Below is part of her story in her own words.
"Hi everyone! Thank you for being here and giving your support. It’s been a really hard year for me. As a black undocumented queer/queergendered and neurodivergent being with multiple disabilities, accessing employment has been a huge lifelong struggle. Accessing life sustaining resources for someone in my position and with no family whatsoever, is a continuous battle. The pandemic has only made matters worse and as 2020 comes to a close, I remain unemployed with no reliable income source or immediate prospects. I am putting all my creativity and cleverness into plotting a better future for myself. It is with the hope of my continued survival that I am asking for support. The first $7k will go towards immediate life sustaining resources for the next six months, including rent, utilities, and food for me and my cats. $2.4k will go towards hiring a part-time helper/caregiver to help me with meeting my needs when my fibromyalgia and epilepsy have me too sick to do so myself, something that unfortunately happens often and without warning. The next $10k goes towards paying off land that is being transferred to me and towards the tiny house that I hope to build on it. In this way I hope for my survival to be less of a question and to build a stable foundation for myself. I want to eventually exit the rent trap completely and be a part of more and more black queers owning their own land and homes.
