My name is John Daras and I am trying to help my parents save there home . My father Michael Daras is a retired DC Fireman and also served time in the US Navy His wife Alice my step mother was a Radiology tech and had just graduated from the university of North Caroliana with her masters degree to become Doctors Assistant in Radiology they had went on vacation to celebrate her accomplishments when there accident happened. It occurred in the British Virgin Islands January 2014 they rented a moped to explore the island while there cruse ship was docked they ended up going off a 40 foot rocky Clift with life threatening injurys they were flown to my Miami Jackson Memorial Shock Trauma Center where they
reamained in intensive care for over a month placed In medical induced comas both had brain trauma my stepmother Alice had to have complete facial reconstruction and has lost 80% of vision in one eye and 40 percent of vision in another which made it impossible to ever return to her career and what she has just worked very hard at for 4 years and graduated with her masters degree since she was a full time student and doing an intern while going to college she did not have any benefits she was a major part of their income approximately 65 percent she is now on disability and has still not yet gotten a single checks my father also had brain trauma and had his right leg amputated at the knee this was devastating accident which has change their lives forever they had near perfect credit before the accident now they have none they have lost 65 percent of their income in the house that they work their whole lives for and it is in jeopardy of going into foreclosure for they are unable to make the payments Alice will never be able to return to her career thus has been very difficult on them both mentally and physically they're both outstanding Americans love their country and law abiding citizens my father has always been the rock of our family the effect this has had on him has been very hard he was very active always working on projects keeping the house up helping neighbors whatever he could do to help anyone my father was always there he is now struggling with depression trying to move forward but the financial struggles are weighing heavy on the both of them I would like to reach out and I ask that any help they could get to save their home would be deeply appreciated they really deserve something like this to happen.
