Hello,
My name is Daniel Coverley. I am 15 years old. Recently, my school, Glosssopdale School, has announced that they are working with a company called Camps International to let some students go on a 4-week expedition to Ecuador to help with the deforestation in the Amazon Rainforest, and help builds schools and houses for the Ecuadorian children and towns. We would do a 5-day trek up the 3 peaks of the Andes.
Unfortunately, the price of this trip, as you would expect, is expensive. It totals at £3980.
I want to do this trip for multiple reasons. First of all, I think this trip is a once in a lifetime experience for me, and it still blows my mind that I have the chance to do this, and I would really love to go. I also think that I would feel very rewarded for helping these less privileged Ecuadorian children by building them schools and homes, and although it will be tough work, I would be happy to help people that are less fortunate than I. 25% of all children in Ecuador do not get the chance to go to school, so helping build new schools will help make a real difference.
The chance of going to the Amazon Rainforest is something I have never dreamt possible, and seeing all the amazing animals there would be a dream come true. Every year an area the size of Spain is lost due to the deforestation that is happening, we will be helping to plant new tress to try and combat this.
I am going to try and raise some of the money by myself in a variety of ways. By asking for sponsors from companies, I am going to work with other kids from school to do events like bag packing, bake sales and various other things. I am too young this year to do the Manchester 10k run but I am going to start training and do it next year when I am 15 so that I can raise some more money.
Any help I can get from friends and family will be highly appreciated, if you could spare £2.50, the price of a cup of coffee, I would really be happy to receive it. Please donate to this cause, it really would be a dream come true to go on this trip and any help towards it would really make me happy.
