Dan’s fight against Motor Neurone Disease

Dan is 47 years old and has just been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. 

 

Ironically, Dan and his family were in the process of moving to a new home immediately prior to his diagnosis. Fortunately, this new home can offer him a far better quality of life due to its size and layout, BUT it needs a lot of modifications to make it user friendly for Dan and for his wife and children,  for example a downstairs bedroom and wet room, wider doors for wheelchair access, and a ramp to allow him go into the garden. Plus, the addition of hoists etc. when the time comes. We have estimated that the cost of materials for this task is going to be in the region of £25,000, however, should the purchase of the new property fall through for whatever reasons, any donated monies will be used to modify their existing home in the best possible way.

 

Due to the rapid advancement of this awful illness, time is of the essence, and once the Government lifts the lockdown for the Covid19, they hope to get the go ahead to move, and start the renovations with as little delay as possible, allowing Dan and his family to share some quality times together before MND takes over.

 

Dans prognosis is 4 years, his time is short, so we need to get the alterations done and them moved into their new home as soon as possible, so they can still have some quality family time together.  

 

Dans friends, colleagues and family members are all going to put their various trades and skills to good use, to keep the costs down to an absolute minimum, by doing most of the work that is required, so all funds raised will go to purchase equipment and materials for this project.
