Help send Dani to volunteer in Mexico

Donation protected
For all who do not know me, my name is Dani. I am a geologist, archaeologist and adventurer. This year has been a tough one. To make this story short, this year I lost my job, my household items and the ability to put a roof over my head. During this time I found myself feeling very alone and abandoned and feeling incredibly disappointed with the lack of support from the community and the government. I took time out to process what had unfolded and realised that this experience has inspired me to do something I have always wanted to do.

In a pursuit to find happiness I jumped online and started looking at volunteering opportunities, that is when I came across Global Vision International and the many programs they are involved with. One program stood out to me and gave me a sense of purpose more than any other, working in Mexico with Save the Children, a worldwide organisation that works towards improving the life quality of children all over the world and to create an immediate change that will last in their lives by providing better education, health care, economic opportunities as well as providing emergency aid in natural disasters, war and other conflicts.

In the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, about 25% of the population are children and most of these children suffer some kind of temporary abandonment, sexual abuse, exploitation and traffic. A high number of children have limited economic resources with low to no access to education. The main focus of work Save the Children conduct in this area is to eradicate child exploitation, slavery, physical, psychological and sexual abuse through different workshops and programs.

So this is where you come in. I need you to help me make a difference to these children. Nobody, young or old, should ever have to feel alone and abandoned as I did through my hardships.

An internship has already been offered and now I need to raise the money to make this happen. The money raised will see me spend 6 months in Quintana Roo working on programs such as:

Ludotecas (Toy Libraries), a recreational and educational space where the children can come to learn through games, talks and workshops, the main objective being to improve their quality of life and integral development.

High school talks: visits to schools to give talks about children's rights as well as sexual education. There are currently 6 primary schools, 1 secondary school, 11 ludotecas with around 3311 participants and about 250 parents actively participating.

So please, pass this along. Rally your friends, family, anyone you know in the corporate world!! In return I will help these children and keep an entertaining blog for all to read during my time away. I look forward to not only teaching these children but learning from them also. With your donation WE can make a difference to the lives of children less fortunate.
