UPDATE: Many of you know I have developed a serious comlication called Pulminary Embolism, blood clots blocking uptake of oxygen in the lungs and causing severe heart strain and chest pain. They had to fly me out to Junction for a four day stay at St. Mary's. I do not know how insurance will handle this and am asking for anything from anyone to help. The flight itself seems to range $1000-$5000(better than the $100000+ without). Thank you for everything, Dan
My name is Daniel "Danimal" Gerrity, a 39 year old kid-at-heart, that has been battling chronic thoracic back pain for nearly 15 years. Finally, after all the years of physical, chiropractic, massage, ultrasound and electrostimulation therapy, as well as 10 rounds of epidural spinal steroid injections, the pain has culminated into a major surgery. Consisting of decompressing, using hardware, and fusing, via bone graft, Thoracic disks 7,8,9 and 10 in my spine. It's going to be a long painful recovery but I'm confident and determined to make a full recovery.
Insurance is covering most of the actual procedure, with the exception of the majority of post surgical physical therapy, and any funds raised through this will be applied to therapy. The rest will be used to help cover transportation and upkeep, hotel rooms, rent, food, utilities, medications, bathroom equipment(stool)... the basics, etcetera, since I have been unable to work much this summer because of my back. I am normally not one to ask for hand-outs but am swallowing my pride and hope for the best.
The money I am asking for is also to cover incedentals insurance will not, like gas/lodging to Denver and back for appointments and to give my mother a break from loaning me money I know she can not afford to give me, but yet still seems to do it, I LOVE YOU MOM.
I could use any amount, twenty five cents to several million(but I think that may be a little overboard). There is no real set goal, any tiny bit is a blessing. I really need to start ASAP and make it through November/December and I have been assured I will be back out doing most everything I coud do prior to the surgery.
Anyone donating would be doing me the greatest favor I could ever ask them for and I will make it a point to acknowledge each donor individually. Thank you in advance and even for your healing thoughts/prayers if you are unable to donate.
