Daniel’s Fight With Melanoma

Donation protected
Hello my name is Joymay Chipman and I am raising money for my 38 year old son Daniel Krystosek, Daniel is a part time instructor at UNLV and will not have insurance over the summer to cover any treatment he may need.  Daniel is not comfortable asking for help, but he did agree to let me ask for him.

Backgroud:  Daniel was diagnosed with stage 3b melanoma cancer in December 2017, the tumor was located on the bottom inside of his left pinky finger.  In January 2018, Daniel had surgery to amputate his left pinky finger and knuckle to remove the melanoma cancer, as well as the removal of a couple of lymph nodes.  The MRI and PET scans have shown that he currently has no active melanomas in his body.

Next Steps:  Daniel will be on immunotherapy (Opdivo) for a year, and he will need to have MRIs and PET scans every few months during treatment.  Even with this treatment, Daniel has an 80% chance to survive the next two years.  The percentages should get better every year.

Costs:  I am looking to raise money for the Cobra Insurance for the summer which is around $2,100 and around $3,000 out-of-pocket costs which is what Daniel currently owes as his copayments.  Funds will go directly to pay these costs.

My Goal:  Is to remove some of the financial stress that has come with the melanoma cancer and amputation of a finger which is very stressful on its own.

Thank you to everyone for your love and support for Daniel, feel free to share the link.
