Hola a todos!
I have been accepted into a study abroad program at my university, University of Maryland Baltimore County, and I am going to Colombia on May 30th for 6 weeks! I am a chemical engineering major with a Spanish minor and the purpose of this trip is to help learn the language. The secret to fluency is to be immersed in the language and culture.
I am working hard for this trip by teaching swim lessons, at a community center and additionally I am applying for grants. I am diligently working hard to save money, but I won't be able to earn enough for this trip alone. I have multiple expenses including airfare, tution, textbooks, meals, and local transportation.
While there I will take credit classes, visit several cities, and enjoy the culture with a group of students, and live with a host family. I have always dreamed of studying abroad and I now have the chance of a lifetime, but for this to be possible, I need your help.
To keep everyone updated with my journey to Colombia, I have created a blog and attached the link below. I will post updates on the blog and corresponding ones here, with the a link to each post.
As a result of this opportunity, when I return, I plan to pay it forward and help other students who may not have the means, to find funding to study abroad.
I am grateful for this opportunity and know that I can raise the funds to travel. I am asking for donations no matter how small or how large; any amount will help me get closer to my goal. I challenge everyone to share my GoFundMe page with 5 friends and encourage them to do the same.
