On Aug 11, she was taken to Maryview Medical Center for a headache which was causing vomiting about 830pm. When she arrived her blood pressure was over 250. After running some test the doctors declared that it wasn't just high blood pressure that was a concern but after two ct-scans that she had bleeding on the brain.
A potential aneurysm seemed to be the cause. The family was told that the mortaility rate for cases like hers were extremely high and that there was nothing to be done but wait for her to pass especially since they did not have a neurologist at there facility.
One doctor decided to consult a couple of other hospitals and a neurologist was skyped in to declare there was a surgery that could be done but with only about a 5% success rate. Three close hospitals declinded to even try the procedure but one neurosurgeon at Sentara Norfolk General was confident to take that chance.
The family was faced to make a decision with time not on their side. At 5am the family decided that a chance was a chance with God and she was transported to Sentara where she made it through the procedure. At some point she did suffer a stroke and has very limited mobility.
At this time the doctors are taking everything hour by hour to try to keep her vitals stable.
There is not an actual goal for her. Any and every donation counts to help her and the family with medical bills and potential care that will be needed.
