Daniel our brother

Donation protected

On Dec 9th 2016 our brother suffered a massive stroke while visiting our mother in the ER. It turns out they both had strokes on the exact same day. Unbelievable, right?! We ( his sister's) decided to have him transferred out of Northwest Indiana to Rush Hospital downtown Chicago where they were definitely better equipped to handle the seriousness of his condition. He was in two separate ICU wards and in acute physical therapy for over a month. For the past 7 months Dan has had no income due to the loss of his job and his continued physical struggles. We've decided to reach out now because this has dragged on long enough, with very little change. When you pay into a system your entire adult life that's broken and completely let's you down your forced to turn to those who care. Dan hasn't gotten one disability check to date! To watch him struggle physically, mentally, emotionally and financially is unfair and a word our family has used more than we've cared to "heartbreaking". To those that know our brother, he is always the first to help, anyone and everyone, just ask his son and daughters athletic families. This experience has changed our family forever. It has been de-masculating to watch our active, upbeat ( goofy at times) brother, struggle with simple tasks like walking, driving, working, remembering etc etc etc..... To all of our family, friends, and neighbors in advance, the Matalins/Capparellis's and Cavanagh's thank you in advance. Laura, Lisa and Suzie will continue to surround Dan with love, hope and support through this incredibly difficult time. WE WILL WIN!
