Daniel Johnson's Lung Transplant

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

My name is Daniel Johnson. I am a 49 year old father and recent grandfather. I have five children, all of which have grown up and become people a parent can only dream of. During the summer of 2010 as I was coaching little league football, my hand began to turn purple, as a sign of lack of oxygen to my fingers. I was medically diagnosed with Raynaud’s disease which I was told could lead to scleroderma; and it did.

In 2013, I was officially diagnosed with scleroderma, a very rare skin tightening disease that eventually breaks down the fibers and connective tissues within my body, virtually destroying important organs and essential areas of my body that make my way of living easier. This disease is so rare and untreatable because of the fact that it almost appears out of thin air. I grew up playing numerous sports and was even a part of a minor league baseball team.

The accumulation of this illness took a turn for the worst. I’ve been experiencing issues with my esophagus and the continuous acid reflux has caused a substantial amount of scarring and has made it harder for me to intake the nutrients I need which has made me lose a considerably dangerous amount of weight. Over the past several years, the scleroderma has progressed, scarring my lungs and making breathing more difficult. I now have associated interstitial lung disease which is causing more of a general dyspnea (difficulty in breathing) and overall discomfort in my life. It gets harder for me to even live in my own home, as I begin to experience more severe symptoms that could be life or death if they aren’t treated adequately.

I have been given word that I am able to get a double lung transplant to alleviate the bulk of the symptoms that I have discussed. I am kindly asking for any donations that you are available to give in order to cover the costs of the transplant before and post surgery. The time that you have taken to read my story will not only lift my spirits to achieve more positivity towards this surgery, but will also aid in my future testimony when I can live to enjoy more days of being my old self.

Thank you and God bless.
