Danette is a loving mother of three, who has the biggest heart we know. She inspires just about everyone she meets to smile and have a good laugh. She is truly one of the greatest people we have a privilege of knowing. Unfortunately, she has developed DCIS invasive breast cancer and needs your help. Due to a history of pulmonary embolisms, any surgery is extra risky for her.
Update: Danette’s reconstruction was done on April 17th. She is now having lymph node issues. She’s awaiting a pet scan to determine any cancer somewhere else within her body. She’s extremely positive and truly is upbeat. On top of her health her husband has to have 3 surgeries on his right arm and hand and he will not be able to work his 80 hours a week for a while. He also is dealing with a heart issue in which his cardiologist has not yet found the cause of his symptoms. As you can imagine the medical bills are overwhelming and extremely stressful.
Danette underwent a bilateral mastectomy on 10/27/17. Her oncotype biopsy came back that her cancer has a 95% chance of return so she’s currently undergoing 13 straight weeks of Chemo and then it will continue for a year at 3 week intervals. Her insurance company will not pay for but 6 months of her Chemo. Her chemo is $12k a week! Her husband is now working 6 days a week do try to facilitate their bills. Chemo has her feeling extremely sick and neuropathy is extremely painful. She continues with drying of her eyes but thankfully the Restasis is working a bit on that. Her biggest challenge is sleep and nothing seems to be helping to relieve her of the deprivation. She currently has expanders in for her reconstruction that will occur when her surgeons feel the time is correct. Danette’s right breast infection she was battling is healed; that was scary. The biopsy on an area in her right pectoral lymph nodes that a ct scan showed an area of true concern was malignant but the chemo has done its job
