Dance on Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever

Donation protected
I am the godfather of Joanne Escudero, daughter of Josephine Panal.  Josephine is a hard working Filipina who had through her efforts begun a small store in Bislig, Philippines, in order to fund her daughter's education.  Then tragedy struck, Joanne was bitten by a mosquito infected with the Dengue virus and her mother used the capital from her store to pay for her hospitalization and recovery.  Not to be deterred Joanne took in laundry making about $5 per day, enough to barely get by. Now tragedy has struck once more.  There are at least 5 varieties of Dengue virus.  If you recover from one you are immune from that one for life but not from the sister viruses.  Joanne has been bitten by a mosquito with another virus and is now hospitalized with Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever.

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever causes severe joint pain and  internal bleeding requiring hospitalization with regular blood transfusions.  One unit of blood costs more than her mother makes in a month. The expected hospital costs alone amount to about $2000 a week.

Joanne's medical expenses have drained her mother's livelihood and what little support I, as her Godfather, could provide on a fixed income.  Joanne will die without the blood transfusions and hospital care her mother cannot afford.

At one point Joanne was a lively lovely girl, a top student who loved to dance.  When her mother lost her store, she dropped out of school her mother could no longer afford.  Now she is fighting for her life.  Help us raise $20,000 so that Joanne can recover and dance on the Hemorrhagic fever that now threatens her life.

With my help Joanne was transferred from the Bislig hospital to Davao where San Pablo hospital has the expertise to treat advanced Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever.  She is now in critical condition bleeding internally.

$200 will buy a unit of blood that Joanne desperately needs.  Those who cannot help financially are asked to donate a unit of blood in the name of Joanne Escudero, now in San Pablo Hospital, Davao Philippines.  We need to raise at least $2,000 per week to cover Joannes medical costs. Funds raised in excess of that needed for Joanne will be donated to the hospital for the treatment of Dengue virus patients.  Help Joanne dance on the Dengue Virus.
