Dana Franklin

Hello! Let me start off by saying this is something very hard for me to do. I am not one to ask for help but given the circumstances, I am in a position that I need to do so. Honestly, it is usually myself giving to others or setting up fundraisers or benefits to help others.
Here’s my story...
On January 6, 2018, I slipped and fell on a patch of ice on my own sidewalk. I was taken by ambulance to the hospital where I spent 5 days and underwent surgery to repair a trimalleolar fracture. It is a fracture that involves the lateral malleolus, the medial malleolus, and the distal posterior aspect of the tibia, which can be termed the posterior malleolus. I also tore ligaments. This is a rare fracture and deemed one of the most serious. It is excruciatingly painful. I required 7 screws and one plate during surgery. I am restricted from driving for a minimum of 12 weeks and can put absolutely no weight on the ankle.
I also recently became engaged and was so excited to start wedding planning and even had set up some appointments with venues and such. Well, that has most definitely been put on the back burner so to speak.

I had a relatively decent job as a Practice Manager for a small private psychiatric practice. I was under the impression that my job was not at risk given my injuries and that I would be allowed to work from home which I had been doing since my discharge from the hospital.
On Tuesday, January 16, 2018, I was informed that I was being let go from my job and given the reason “I cannot afford to continue to pay you”. I find this excuse bogus and unjustified. My job performance was not a factor and I was told as much. I loved my job and worked hard at it. I am not being given any severance pay or even being paid for the work I put in at home.

This has lead me to here. To asking for help as I now have no job, no health insurance and ultimately am unable to actively seek employment until I am released from my doctors to do so. My fiancé has had to take time off work in order to take care of me and help me adjust to not being able to do the everyday things that we tend to take for granted and get me to doctors appointments, my kids to school, etc.

Any amount donated will go towards keeping my home, groceries, paying utilities and medical expenses.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you in advance for any donations. Any and all will be more than appreciated.
Take care ❤️
