Thank you for visiting ‘Dan’s Recovery’ page,

Dan recently suffered a massive back injury after slipping and falling on his tailbone, but didn't realize it.  After 3 days of strugglling through some pain, his legs started to give out.  A quick trip to urgent care and an MRI  revealed something major.  He was referred to an Orthopedic Surgeon for further evaluation.   That visit revealed a ruptured disk and a hemorrhaging in his spinal canal.  This finding landed him in the ER of Vanderbilt University Hospital and in immediate surgery being scheduled for that afternoon.  Scary Stuff!!!

The Vanderbilt team did an awesome job.  The surgery lasted 4 hours and the surgeon was very proud of how it went.  He assured us that Dan's condition would not worsen and his paralysis in his legs should subside.  Thank the Lord for that!

Once able to use a walker to get to the bathroom to brush his teeth they allowed him to be transported to a rehab facility.  He is in good spirits and is working really hard towards recovery.  Still they are guessing he will be there two more weeks.

Once he gets out of rehab he will need extreme occupational therapy until he’s well.  He will also need to have someone at home with him 24 hours a day to keep an eye on him.  They are hoping within 12 weeks he will be able to fully walk again.  The hardest part for his family, aside from the actual recovery process, will be meeting their financial needs.  Dan will be out of work for 3 to 6 months.  There is also a possibility he will not be able to do concrete pumping (which he has been doing for 20 years) at all.  I’m sure you can understand the pressure that would put on a man who has always been proud to support his family.

Dan has a very loving wife, Jackie, who has literally stood by his side since this happened.  We all thank God for her!  He also has 4 children. The oldest is Madison (13), followed by Nathan (12), Owen (11) and Payton (10). They are all so amazing and love their dad so much.  His wife and the kids are his life, he would do anything for them!!!  This is why this is so important to us to ask for your help.

Our family really appreciates the time you have taken to understand Dan’s situation!  We are thankful for all donations of any amount and would also like to ask you to pray for Dan’s recovery. It’s going to be a long recovery for him and we just want him to have no worries when it comes to his finances.  We would love to raise enough money to cover his insurance deductibles, future medical costs and living expenses for his family. This will be a huge financial strain for his family and we feel we have set a pretty low goal. We are really hoping you can help us surpass this!!!

Thank you and God bless,
