Dan Smith’s Broken Neck Fund

Hi there everyone

I am setting up this page on behalf of a young man called Danny Smith, who unfortunately sustained a very serious rugby injury last weekend playing against Sheffield RUFC. Danny has suffered from a broken neck (C6 vertabrae) and is currently in Sheffield General Hospital. He has been fitted with a halo brace which he will have on for roughly around 3 and a half months.

For those of you who don’t know dan..... he’s a bit of a dope (like myself) and absolutely loves his rugby as well as enjoying a drink on a weekend! With him not having any sports insurance, this will mean he will only get statuatory sick pay which is not a lot of money as we all know, therefore I think this is a great idea to get behind Danny and give him the support he needs whilst in this difficult and stressfull time of recovery and to allow him to carry on living a normal lifestyle despite this injury.

I know personally how difficult this time is going to be for him as this happened to me this time last year and I can tell you all that its not nicest and especially not the most comfiest of ‘scaffolding’ to wear for that amount of time so I would really appreciate it if we could all be as generous to dan as you all were to me and raise him plenty of funds in order for him to enjoy the Christmas period and through his recovery!
