Dan Oak Medical/Girls College Fund

Everyone knows Dan as a hunting and fishing enthusiast who loves his family, dog, Jimmy Buffett and an ice-cold beer.  He served as a local volunteer fireman for many years in Rowayton, and has helped countless members of his community in their time of need.  Now Dan, his wife Janet, and his two amazing daughters, Delaney and Shelby need our help. 

At some point Dan was bitten by a deer tick that not only carried Lyme Disease, but also four other co infections-Babesiosis, Erlichiosis, Plasmosis, and Bartonella.  The result of these infections has been a slow and steady decline physically and neurologically, making it very difficult for Dan to accomplish many simple day-to-day activities.  He is unable to communicate verbally, and walking is becoming increasingly difficult. Because Lyme is such a medical mystery, it has also been a long road finding the right treatment.  Dan has had to go to many doctors to try to find a successful treatment, and the doctors are still experimenting in hopes of curing the dementia that is progressing quickly.  Some of these treatments include blood transfusions, and IV antibiotics.


Dan is no longer able to be home alone.  Janet is working full time in the city so she has had to get home care for Dan, which costs around $200 a day.  This, along with his extensive medical bills has added a huge financial burden to the family.  Home care expenses and most treatments are not fully covered under their insurance plan.  Many of the doctors appointments/treatments can cost upward of  $5,000 a visit.  Expenses are adding up quickly.  With your help we can ease the burden of these enormous expenses for the Oak family.
