Dan Nyakabwa Kairumba's Fund

Our brother Dan, has developed a rare neurological complication called Guillain-Barre Syndrome. Its a type of paralysis that begins in the legs and ascends upwards to involve the arms the chest and abdomen. It is characterized by extreme weakness that the person cannot move, literally. Usually they can feel and even talk but have lost all power in their muscles. It's like being locked up in your own body; a very frightening experience.  The biggest fear is an attack on the respiratory muscles that stops the person from breathing.  Right now Dan has no power in his arms and legs and two days ago his left face and eye muscles were involved.  The doctors recommended a very expensive medication Serum IVg that could not be found in Uganda and was going to cost in the millions to have it purchased from Kenya. When his face was invloved we quickly made a decision to take him to Aga Khan Hospital in Kenya for further evaluation and care. Right now he needs to be near an ICU incase he needs breathing support.  The doctors also offered another treatment called plasma phoresis (like dialysis) . We are hopeful because when this condition is well managed people do recover though slowly. (please read more on it).   Therefore, we would like to try everything to save his life.  Dan is married and a father of three, a little girl and twins. Him, his wife and his family are going to need Prayer , love and all the support as we wait patiently for his recovery.  The money which is needed urgently will go to fund further tests , treatment and constant monitoring in an ICU or High dependency Unit depending of how the condition is progressing or not.  The treatment will also help support family who have to travel and find accomodation in a foreign country while caring for Dan. We believe that the treatment
