Besides being a lot of fun and a good challenge, I would like to help raise funds for the City of Cherokee, Iowa for their Cherokee Trails (c/o Cherokee Community Foundation) earmarked to the proposed Cherokee Trails expansion project. The City of Cherokee has an opportunity to expand its trail system with the purchase of 55 acres on the east side of town. New paved trails will connect to Main and Spruce Streets and connect to the existing trail system to the north or south. Paved and unpaved trails will wind through a natural park setting. Work will not begin on the trail expansion and park until the land can be acquired. The Cherokee Trails first big step is to acquire the land for $250k, and $205K has been pledged to date to be given over the next several years. I would like to have a goal of raising $10,000 towards this land purchase by the Cherokee Trails Committee (c/o Cherokee Community Foundation). A penny a mile equals $35.00, a dime a mile =$350.00 and a dollar a mile = $3,500! My wife and I will donate $1,000 to kick-off this fundraiser. 100% of your donation will go to Cherokee Trails after my ride is completed hopefully by October 1, 2018.
I have an Instagram account and a Facebook page (under Daniel Mott) to chronicle my journey.
