Daniel Ray Knorr of Olathe, Kans. passed away at the young age of 54 on March 6, 2018 due to a tragic accident at his home.

He was born on December 8, 1963, in St. Francis, Kans. to Junior and Deloris (Rieb) Knorr. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was raised with farm-life values which included believing in God, working hard, being honest and kind, and loving family and friends unconditionally. He farmed with his family during his youth and learned mechanical tractor, auto and small engine repair from his father.

He has two siblings, Garry Knorr (deceased) and Carol Sloper (St. Francis). His honorary siblings in life include Brendan Alsup, Larry Finley, Tom Tucker, brother’s in-laws Doug Sloper and Tim Demuth, cousin Jennifer Bieber, Kevin Neville, Paul Krueger, and Keith Smalley.

Dan was an amazing family man whose love for family and friends had no bounds. He married the love of his life, Loretta (Demuth), on February 6, 1988 in her hometown of Spearville. He is a father of two outstanding children, Aimee Moore (Olathe) and David (Lawrence); a second father to his son-in-law Alex Moore; and a grandfather of two beautiful boys: Cain and Jackson. Dan died just two days after the birth of his second grandson.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University in 1987, Dan worked in the electrical and contract manufacturing industry for nearly 30 years. Dan's co-workers were his second family. His work took him to many countries and his friends are scattered all over the world including Australia, Taiwan, India and England.

He was a brilliant engineer whose creativity knew no bounds. Nearly every friend and family member has some sort of innovative invention in their home that Dan created. He was also credited by his friends as being a master brewer. One of his favorite hobbies was to be in the Pit Tour Crew at Kansas Speedway. He was also a musician who loved to play his father’s guitar.

Dan shared the gift of life with up to 53 people at the time of his death by opting to be an organ donor. While the process of prolonging the full shut down of his physical body was difficult to endure, Dan’s family is honored that he gave life in his own death.

He was preceded in death by his father and brother. He is survived by his mother, wife, son, daughter, son-in-law, two grandsons, sister, and numerous brother and sister in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Olathe on Friday, March 16 at 6:00 p.m. and at Peace Lutheran Church in St. Francis on Monday, March 19 at 10:30 a.m. His remains will be inurned at St. Francis Cemetery.

Those who would like to honor him with a memorial donation can send a check to the Dan Knorr Memorial Fund c/o Knodel Funeral Home, P.O. Box 606, St. Francis KS 67756 or online at https://www.gofundme.com/dan-knorr-memorial-fund. Funds will be used to establish college education savings plans for his current and future grandchildren.
