Dan Hove Medical Cost Hope Fund

On October 10, 2012 my life was changed in a way I'd never imagined or prepared for.  The words "You have pancreas cancer" had an ominous overtone you can not possibly prepare for.  I was numb as I processed those words and knew it wasn't a mistake.  My thoughts and concerns were immiediately focused on how much I would miss my family and all the milestone events I'd miss and they would experience without me.  I was silent with my my wife, Patsy, in the hospital room with me as anger filled me for about a half hour. I decided I needed to listen to my own advice and which was that I had complete control over my attitude toward the cancer.

As cancer events unfolded, the challenges mounted through the several surgeries, high dose radiation, dozens of rounds of chemotherapy (currently at 62!), and the hope that these interventions would make a difference. Throughout my decades of youth sports coaching, United States Air Force military service , fire department service as a firefighter, paramedic and chief, my overriding goal has always been to make a difference in peoples lives.  What I have come to find out is that the challenges related to these were put before me to prepare me for my biggest battle in my life.

God has blessed me with a loving family, superb medical care, and allowing me to survive these nearly 6 years.  This time has been a journey that while being challenging, has allowed me to be blessed with"bonus time" I'm very thankful for.  During this bonus time I've been gifted with the opportunity to see my children get married, grandchildren graduate and be born, experience holidays and birthdays with my family, and go on many vacation trips that I've always wanted to do.  I continue to thank God for the opportunities and Patsy for the support to do this.

Unfortunately, continuing to beat the odds with my pancreas cancer becomes increasingly expensive and a burden to Patsy.  I am about to once again undergo chemo therapy to hopefully positively influence my remaining quality of life, however short that may be.  With my medical savings account long ago exhausted, the bills keep rolling in each month and year.  My annual medical costs approach, and sometimes exceed, $20,000 per year.  As my recurrent cancer advances, my goal is to get the medical bills paid and not saddle my wife , Patsy, with that burden to recover from.  Life insurance proceeds are not in the picture as I was viewed as uninsurable when I retired to battle this cancer, thus no life insurance to rely on.

Would you please help with getting these bills paid by assisting me through your donation?  I thank you for generosity and support in helping with these burdens!

Love,
Dan
