On March 2, Dan Fair, our brother-in-law, uncle, kids cheerleader, golf partner, life coach, and just about anyone else you needed in your life, lost a long and difficult battle with cancer. For more than 5 years Dan fought harder than any person should ever have to fight. But through it all, he never lost his spirit. His tongue-in-cheek sense of humor and quick wit stayed as sharp as the first day we met him. Even on his last day when the conversation turned to the time he ran a marathon, he was quick to point out he ran TWO marathons. He wasn’t going to let anyone sell him short.
We were all prepared to continue the battle, but when Dan turned to his wife and children and said, “it’s time” we understood he was comfortable in taking the final step in his journey. Dan had made this decision and no one was going to change his mind. Even if we tried, it wouldn’t have done any good anyway. That’s just who he was.
But as one journey ends, another begins.
The next journey belongs to Dan’s wife LeeAnn and his children, David, Alicen and Peter. Sadly, Dan’s inability to work, insurmountable medical bills, and the simple cost of living day to day had a devastating financial effect. Not only do they have to deal with the loss of the husband, father and best friend, they are faced with a mountain of unexpected and immediate financial demands. It’s time for us to join them on the journey.
We are asking you to support LeeAnn, David, Alicen and Peter with a financial donation through this Go Fund Me page. Whatever you can share will help them with the immediate, unexpected expenses they have to face. We ask you do this in lieu flowers or other memorials. Don’t think of it as a contribution. Think of it as saying “Let me get this round”, or “You don’t owe me anything for the ticket, it’s on me”, the same way Dan had done so many times before.
