Dan Doody's Heart Journey

Hi, my name is Erin. On August 7, 2017, my best friend Melissa's father, Daniel Doody, had a massive heart attack. He was taken to Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, where it was found that all four major cardiac arteries were completely blocked, there was evidence of a previous silent heart attack, he had fluid on his lungs, and was in heart failure. Doctors put a stent in one artery to restore some blood flow to his heart. He was then intubated and put on a respiratory ventilator. Dan's family members were told he would need to be transferred to St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, where he would undergo A quadruple bypass. They were unsure whether he would survive the transfer and/or the open heart surgery. Thankfully he made it through surgery. He remained on the ventilator and was put on a cardiac pump. He was heavily sedated to allow his heart and body to rest, and machines were doing all the work for his body.

Currently Dan is in the CVICU at St. Joseph's Hospital awaiting transfer to Stong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. There, doctors feel he will receive better care, as they specialize in cardiac pumps. He may require a permanent heart pump.

Dan has always been an amazing father and grandfather. He always has a joke or trick up his sleeve to make you laugh. We all want Dan back to his good ol' self!

We are looking for donations to assist Dan's family with any medical expenses, travel expenses to Rochester, and expenses for his wife Donna while she stays in the Rochester area. Any amount is greatly appreciated. Prayers and positive thoughts are also appreciated.
