Late in the evening of March 24th, Dan and his boys Caleb, and David were cleaning the inside of a silo on their family farm. This was not unusual as Caleb and David love working on the farm with their Dad and never shy away from a tough job. While inside, the unthinkable happened. The silage collapsed in on them burying them.
By the grace of God, Caleb, age 15, was about to get out and call for help. Tragically, by the time rescuers made it to the rural farm and accessed Dan, he had already passed. David, who had just turned 14 years old six days prior, still had a weak pulse and was rushed to the hospital. Sadly, his injuries were too great and David passed before the ambulance could reach the life flight team.
Compounding this tragedy, Dan's wife and David's mom, Melissa, was in Washington visiting her oldest son, Ben at the time.
