Hi everyone! I am starting this fundraiser on behalf of my family to help my Uncle Damon pay for a life vest that he needs to wear due to his newly discovered heart issues.
Damon went to the doctor last Friday because he felt off and was experiencing pain. He was sent directly to the hospital where it was revealed that he had quite a few major health concerns.
He was scheduled to have an atrial flutter ablation on Thursday, July 19th. The procedure has been postponed because a blood clot was found in his heart. The doctors have prescribed him blood thinners to dissolve the clot in order to attempt the procedure after it’s gone.
We found out that he has a heart condition that makes him prone to ventricular tachycardia. This is where the life vest, and your help, comes in. The vest will be around $9000 for the 90 days ($3000 per month) that he has to wear it before he’s able to have the ablation procedure he needs. The vest will act as a sort of external pacemaker that will defribulate when it recognizes his heart fluttering and shock him into correct rhythm to prevent potential death.
The hospital is providing the first 30 days’ costs, but the cardiologist requires Damon to wear the vest for 90 days. Damon’s insurance is not covering the remainder of 60 days and since this condition was unforeseen, there was no planning for this expense.
Damon is a wonderful, loving, kind-hearted and HILARIOUS man. He is a father, grandfather, brother, son, friend, cousin, nephew, etc. He is one of the best men I know and he needs our help.
