As I know many of you have heard Damion had a life altering accident that has left him with many obstacles and challenges he will have to face for the rest of his life.
Damion fell off of a two story roof top and severed the lower part of his spine and spinal cord. He has had surgery to stabilize the spine and repair the “Burst Fracture”, and is recovering at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. He will soon be transfered to a rehabilitation facility where he will continue with physical therapy to help him get stronger and to teach him this new way of living. He also has 2 broken ribs that will take some time to heal. He has a long road ahead of him.
We are counting our blessings that he is alive, and that he does not have any head trauma. He is still Damion and he has a very determined outlook and as always a wicked quick sense of humor that will get him through this new way of life on wheels.
As many of you know, Damion was in the process of remodeling his house in Mt. Clemens and the kitchen and bathrooms are pretty much gutted. He is now going to have to remodel the house to make it handicap accessable, which is going to be a big project. He will need doorways widened, counters lowered, and a bathroom with a shower and a toilet set up to make it easy for him to get in and out of.
Damion is going to need a wheelchair, medical equipment and a handicap accessable vehicle to be able to get to and from therapy easily. This is just a start, there will be many other things as time goes on.
With the help from our friends and family our goal is to raise enough money to cover medical CO-pay bills, everyday bills, finish the remodeling of his house & making it handicap accessable. Also he will need medical equipment to make his life easier so that he can focus on getting himself stronger.
