No words could ever incapsulate the light, love, and strength that Damiano Macaluso was and still is in all of our lives. Whether you knew him as a friend, brother, boyfriend, co-worker, artist, son, or stranger, Damiano made sure to bless the lives of all those around him every chance he had despite the war going on in his mind and body, whether it was with a smile or a pep talk.
Damiano's transition has profoundly impacted each of us to various degrees. From the unbearable waves of guilt, shame, anger, sadness, and grief, to the slightly more lifting winds of appreciation, love, joy and faith; I have no doubt every life he touched is experiencing some form of this emotional rollercoaster.
In an effort to lighten the unimaginable weight that we each feel, this fundraising platform has been created. I am creating this as an opportunity for those of us who knew Damiano (whether directly or indirectly) to help ourselves heal, and be blessed by being a blessing during this time.
Since Damiano's transition, countless individuals have said, "Please tell me if there is anything I can do / if you need anything." So, in honor of those who have asked for ways to help, and my parents who need as much love and light as possible in this time, I set up a GoFundMe Fundraising Campaign to create an opportunity for us all to heal and bring light into a dark time. Even if you cannot contribute financially, sharing the page on your Facebook feed would be a great help as well.

All funds that are raised will be put towards the financial cost of Damiano's transition. Any funds raised beyond the goal of the campaign will be donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (https://afsp.org/).
