Damian and Lucy Ian Relief

Donation protected
Hello! My name is Jennifer Prushinski. I have been friends with Damian since we were in junior high school in Stratford, CT.
For as long as I’ve known him, he has been a very giving, selfless and good friend to all. Having found out his life was unbelievably affected by Hurricane Ian I knew this was the time when he needed somebody…this is where YOU can be his hero and come to his rescue, offering your support to help him in his time of need.

Damian and his puppy, Lucy have been displaced due to the devastating Hurricane Ian.
Currently they are staying with family but will need another place to call home soon. Their landlord for the property they are renting decided to raise their rent 50%! That is completely unrealistic and a horrible thing to do after such a tragedy.
We need your support! Please, anything that you can offer will be greatly appreciated. No donation is too small because they all add up. When my own house burned down, a good friend set up a GoFundMe to help me in my most desperate hour. The outpouring of support changed my entire outlook on life and definitely helped me beyond belief! If you know me, then you know what I’m talking about. Now, I am paying it forward to help someone we all care about. Please just take a moment and give what you can. You never know when tragedy will strike and having amazing friends like you to help is absolutely life saving.
When I reached out to Damian these were the words that inspired me to reach out to you and start this campaign for he and Lucy:
“Lucy and I evacuated just as the storm hit. The water level eventually reached 7-8 feet completely flooding the entire neighborhood and damaged our rental property.
With the receding tide we returned to see our community completely displaced, reeking of decay and stagnant ocean water. Our home is filled with moisture and the smell of mold and mildew. There is no going back to live in such an unhealthy environment. Belongings can be replaced but lives cannot.

The property owners are raising my rent 50% due to there being no rent control in Florida. So we are being pushed out of a currently unlivable home into one of the worst housing markets caused by the hurricane for someone else’s profit. Finding a home to live in will be a challenge to say the least. I am incredibly grateful that we are safe and alive.

So with that we have to move, and quickly. Which will cost upwards of $6000 or more for first, last and deposit in a housing market that cannot sustain the amount that is taking advantage of displaced Floridians. Not including truck rentals, belongings, etc.

I’m still suffering major back injuries from being rear-ended at a stoplight by a texting driver traveling at over 65mph. which requires me to hire help to move, adding to the already high costs we are facing.

My car which was in a raised garage still sustained major water damage and the deductible is $1000. Coming up with all of this money is just not possible on my own at this time.
This has been nothing less than a traumatic life altering experience.”
You never know that you need help until you do. Please give whatever you can, and keep in mind that this is going directly to Damian and Lucy! Thank you for being his hero with any support you can offer.
Absolutely much love, Jennifer.
