Housing for "Dalits" in Nagarkot

Donation protected
Recently, I was in Nagarkot, only 20+ km away from Kathmandu, for a short hike.  Was shocked and sad to see the state of some of the villagers affected by 2015 Earth Quake.  Over 2 years have passed since earthquake and villagers in the area are still sleeping under unsafe, unhygienic tinned shelter.  So close to the capital but yet far enough to be ignored to receive help from the government.  Imagine how this cold season has been like this season.

I got connected to local volunteer Mr. Shankar Bastakoti who is quite involved in helping these extremely poor and marginalized earthquake victims in Nagarkot.  There are around 20 families that need desperate help.

Local volunteers like Shankar are reaching to friends, families and well wishers of Nepal to put these family members in Earthquake Resistant House designed by the the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction (DoUDBC).

To help the victims, I have taken responsibility to raise money just for the windows and doors that will go into the house.  Two windows and a door that will go in to a 2 bedroom house with one toilet costs around $250.00 per house.  I am contributing $1000 to support 4 houses.  I am now reaching out to my friends, families and well wishers to help Shankar put these 20 families in safe house.

Shankar and I will make sure that you are connected to every family supported by your generosity.

Let the generosity begin !
