Here's a photo of the greatest man we know. A strong father, loving husband and a funny, caring grandpa (aka Pop).  He's been so instrumental in all aspects of our lives. He has picked us up when we were down, set us straight when we needed it, but most of all he was there. He was always there when we needed him.

Dale is a friend to many and a giver with a big heart.  He's touched so many lives. Many of our childhood friends considered Dale a second father in their lives. He loved supporting all of these boys and girls and hopefully provided some guidance and of course laughter along the way too.  We all know that as he's gotten older he feels like he's a real comedian.  We just don't have the heart to tell him that he isn’t that funny.

Our dad is suffering from a disease called Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.  Pulmonary fibrosis is a lung disease that occurs when lung tissue becomes damaged and scarred. This thickened, stiff tissue makes it more difficult for your lungs to work properly. As pulmonary fibrosis worsens, you become progressively more short of breath.  There’s no cure for IPF. The illness will affect your life and your family. For most people, symptoms don’t get better, but there are new treatments that can slow the damage to your lungs.  Everyone’s prognosis is different. Some people will get worse quickly, while others can live 10 years or more after they are diagnosed.  The scarring associated with pulmonary fibrosis can be caused by a multitude of factors. But in most cases, doctors can't pinpoint what's causing the problem. When a cause can't be found, the condition is termed idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, which is what our dad has.

We’re in a battle to prolong a life and to keep this disease from progressing quickly.  Our father has kept in shape his entire life, but is frustrated that something like this could potentially cut his life short.  He's a fighter and will battle hard along the way, with his family supporting him as he’s always done for us.

Dale will be going in for stem cell treatment on November 9th and 10th with a follow-up procedure a few months after that.   Unfortunately, there is no insurance to help offset the cost of some of the new treatments to slow progression of IPF.  Our mission is to raise $10,000 to cover the cost of the treatment.  Any financial assistance you feel you could contribute would be appreciated and it’s exactly what our family needs during this challenging time.  We understand times are tough and if you can't donate money, please find it in your heart to pray for peace for Dale and our family as we fight this battle.  Please pass this message along to your church family and/or social media network.

Hug those closest to you a little tighter today.  None of us know when it will be our time or the time for those we love.  Any donation will help tremendously.  Thank you and may God bless you.

Love,

Jeff, Lisa, Jan and Brandy
