Daisy's Hyperbaric oxygen therapy

Donation protected

Almost 3 years ago, on May 21, 2015, my younger sister had a cardiac arrest from a routine medical procedure. Due to the cardiac arrest, Daisy suffered an Anoxic Brain Injury. Many of her doctors were scared that she would never be the same again. They told us that she would most likely die within the first couple of days after the incident. They told us, that if she did survive this injury, she would probably be in a vegetative state with no chance of recovery.  But my sister has proved these doctors wrong and has improved each an everyday. All her doctors consider Daisy a miracle because she has overcome all of her odds. She has never given up and she has endured many gruesome hours of therapy and rehabilitation sessions. She has come a long way, considering where she started.

Daisy has 3 beautiful kids that she lives for and they are the ones that giver her strength to push forward and continue to work hard.  She learned to swallow, breathe, talk and walk all over again. She went from being bedbound to sitting in a wheelchair, then walking with a walker, next with a cane and now walking unassisted. She was on a ventilator, then used a tracheostomy and later was able to breathe all on her own. We used a feeding tube to give her some nutrition since she could not swallow. Her feeding tube was removed 11 months later as she was able to tolerate eating by mouth and she was able to keep her weight up. She still goes to therapies at TIRR and she still has a long road ahead of her and this is why we are asking for your help.

As a family, we have never given up on her and we continue to look for alternative treatments that can help enhance Daisy's recovery. There is a doctor in New Orleans that does Hyperbaric Oxygenation Therapies for people who have suffered Brain Injuries. HBOT is not FDA approved for these types of injuries so insurances do not cover these treatments. So because of that clause, we will be paying out of pocket for these treatments. Dr. Paul Harch has been treating brain injury patients with HBOT for over thirty years. His therapies have proven to considerably improve fine motor skills, cognition skills, memory and other impairments. He has agreed to treat my sister in the hopes that she will continue to recover with better outcomes. She will begin her 1st treatment on 1/29/2018 and stay in New Orleans for 2 months. My mother will be staying with her there, so we will need to find them a place to stay. She will take her car in order to be able to get around from place to place. The funds we are raising will be used to help pay for the treatments, to assist with the cost of the hotel and any other needs they may need while staying in New Orleans.  Each treatment is $200 and she needs a minimum of 40 treatments, not including the costs of the all the doctors' appointments she will have. I hope Dr. Harch can help my sister get her life back.

Any donation is appreciated! I am grateful for every single one of you that have prayed for her recovery and that have been there for our family. Your kindness and support doesn't go unnoticed. I asked kindly that you please share this post on your wall, in hopes that we
can reach as many people as possible.
Again, thank you for your support and please continue to pray for Daisy's recovery. She really wants to get back to her "old" life!
