Daisy needs our help again!
This is Daisy, the unofficial mayor of Cornelius, Oregon. Rain or shine, this support dog can be seen patrolling the streets of our town with her wheelchair-bound owner, Diego Patron. They make their rounds checking on the state of town affairs and generally spreading good cheer. Daisy never met a kid or adult she didn’t like.
Now Daisy needs our help. In September 2016, she ruptured her left anterior cruciate ligament. With some help from her friends, a GoFundMe page, and discounts from her veterinary friends here at the Cornelius Veterinary Clinic PC and a local veterinary surgeon, she achieved a great result and soon was back on patrol. But dang! Last Saturday she ruptured her other one.
Our good friend, Dr. Tom, the surgeon has volunteered to help out once again and our clinic will discount our fees and match them with a contribution from our charitable fund. (The Missy Gundry Fund was named in honor of a beloved client who was always volunteering to help pets in need). This is a significant operation and even after all of the discounts, this surgery and recovery will still be more than Diego can handle. We have estimated that it will take about $3,750 to cover the cost of the surgery, hospitalization, medications, and post-operative follow-up expense (follow-up X-rays, etc.) and Diego simply cannot afford this expense. He lives in a nearby mobile home park and is reliant on his chair for transportation. (We have provided transportation for Daisy for her veterinary appointments while she has been unable to walk.) Daisy is a fabulous patient and is incredibly stoic for all of her treatments.
Mr. Patron did not want to ask for help with this but did consent to let us help with this page. We will direct 100% of the funds collected to Daisy’s surgery and aftercare. In the event that we can do this for less and there is any residual money, we will deposit it in our Missy Gundry Memorial Fund to be used to help the next pet in need.
We’ve never asked for a donation like this before but it is truly a good cause for a great dog. We thank you in advance for your assistance.
