Help this family start their Vegan cafe again

Donation protected
Hi my name is Cathy, for 15 months my daughter Daisy and I have put our hearts and souls into creating a very unique little cafe that honoured the principles of sustainable, Organic, Vegan living, with a warm community focus. We felt honoured to  share a lifetime of plant-based family recipes and our passion for music, community and Earth friendly living.

We were also the only fully Vegan AND Organic cafe in Western Australia!

Along with our wonderful of team of passionate Earth carers we carved a new path, driven by our belief that a Vegan and Organic hospitality model is not only possible, but crucial in these days of environmental crisis.

Driven by our strong belief in the benefits of Organic Farming and Plant Based living Daisy and I gave the cafe everything we had for the 15 months we were there. We both worked between 80-100 hours each per week to make this dream a reality.  During this whole time neither of us took a wage, as everything we made went back into the running costs of the business.

It was long hours and a lot of work and dedication but we were working for a greater cause and were compelled by our concerns for the environment. We also understood that it is often a long road for anyone starting up a new business, but especially so for one that offers a real alternative to the mainstream.

Our efforts came to fruition and after only four months Scoop Magazine rated us in the Top 5 Vegan  Restaurants South of the River in Perth. We gained a 4.8 google rating, with over 130 glowing reviews and heaps of loyal customers. We couldn't have been happier with the fruits of our labour of love.

But unfortunately the long hours hit our daughter Daisy hard and in June 2019 she was diagnosed with a serious health condition that changed everything for us.  She urgently needed medical care and to rest and recover. It took two full time and one part time staff to cover her 100 hour per week workload and the cost of the replacing her previously unpaid hours took it's toll on our fragile finances. Replacing even some of my hours so that I could help her was not financially possible and that meant
I couldn't help Daisy when she needed her mum the most.

So after 15 months of pouring our Mother and Daughter love and passion into the cafe and building a blossoming local community hub that we cherished, we made the difficult but necessary decision to put Daisy’s health first.  We packed up the cafe and left with literally nothing but our business name, our precious customer and staff relationships and a reputation for making wholesome, nourishing, organic, vegan food served with love and care.

WHAT NEXT ...

Since leaving we have been overwhelmed by encouragement from our local community to create a crowdfunding campaign to start our special cafe up again in some small way.

We have always said that we are more of a campaign than a cafe, so we are feeling that it would be great to start a food truck so we can take the campaign on the road once Daisy is well again. This way the workload will also be lighter and more manageable for Daisy to have a fresh start.

Daisy is taking at least 3 months off work to fully rest and recover and in the meantime we will be doing some pop up nights at the Sunshine Harvester Works in Fremantle to keep the Organic Vegan heart beating <3

If necessary all funds raised will go to Daisy’s to help with her healthcare costs.

Quote to build a food truck from Baravan (local Perth retro caravan up-cyclers)
45K for the build
20K to fit it out
1K to get it registered and on the road

We truly believe that your work is your love made visible and look forward to sharing the love with you all again and we thank you for your support in helping us to be able to do just that.

So if you love what we are all about and would like to help us keep the Organic Vegan love flowing, please chip in, every donation helps, no matter what the amount.
We are so grateful for your support.

Thankyou from Cathy and Daisy <3

We've always dreamed of creating an Earth Friendly life-skills journal filled with wholesome recipes, herbal remedies, lifestyle and permaculture tips from our journey as a family living a Plant Based Organic lifestyle for the past 36 years. We will do this as part of Daisy’s healing process and once it’s completed will send a free e-copy to everyone who has made a donation, no matter how big or small <3
