A Safe Place for Dad

Donation protected
My father, Kevin Reidy, needs to move to a new home where he can be around professionals that can help take care of him. He's been living on his own in Raleigh, NC near his ex-wife (my Mom) since his stroke 6 years ago. The weather is warmer which helps his joints and it makes it easier to see them both when I visit. He's been able to get him help or hire people to run errands, take him to the doctor, get his groceries and drop him off at the gym - his one real passion and main source of exercise - but, due to his worsening condition, the time has come for my Father to move to a place that is much better equipped to help him.

His stroke left him with limited mobility in his right leg and right arm. He also suffers from aphasia (a language disorder that affects a person's ability to communicate) and he was recently diagnosed with severe arthritis of the hip so he has become a high fall risk which has reduced his mobility even more.

He doesn't want to move toNY near me because the cold weather causes pain and stiffness in his joints, especially his hip. To best assist him, he needs to move to an assisted living facility where there are 24-hour on-call services, healthy dining options and transportation available.

After doing a lot of research we have found a facility called Cedar Ridge  that is still in North Carolina, but can help him on a daily basis with everything from preparing meals for him to driving him to the gym. However, he does not have the resources to pay the upfront and moving costs to move into the facility.
He can afford the monthly rent which also includes his food and utilities, but they have a one-time community fee of $2250 that he cannot afford. Since my I am currently working freelance I can't afford to help him out much. He is living on a fixed income so my Dad and I are kind of stuck and we're asking for your help.

With the amount of money we're asking for we can:
$2250 - Pay the community fee
$500 - Buy a new, smaller bed (his current bed wouldn't fit in to his new  studio apartment)
$400 - Buy a new chair. His old one is secondhand and the new one we're looking at has both a reclining feature, to help elevate his legs, and can swing forward which will help boost him out of the seat.
$200 - Pay for the U-Haul rental and associated moving costs
$600 - Cost to his current apartment to get him out of his current lease so he can start getting help sooner
= $3950 (+$150 for the money that GoFundMe automatically takes out of every donation)

With your donation you'll be helping my father find a more fit, and frankly, secure, place to live where he can still live on his own a majority of the time but be able to get assistance when he needs it. Thank you for your support!
