Jerry's Lung Transplant- Medical & Living Expenses
Donation protected
Hello friends! We are asking for help in funding my dad’s recovery from his lung transplant.
Many who know him are aware that he has been suffering from COPD for several years and that he has increasingly struggled with his breathing. Last year, he was officially diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis & was told that his best option for survival is a new lung. He is currently on a transplant list, and as soon as a compatible donation becomes available, my dad will be admitted to OSU Hospital for surgery.
He has been working hard in preparation for this life changing event. For the past year, he has been eating healthy, losing weight & attending bi-weekly physical therapy sessions. He's been spending a lot of time with his doctors, but unfortunately due to the Covid19 Pandemic, he has had little time to spend with many of the people who love him.
Needless to say, we are all experiencing a whirlwind of emotions right now. We're so thankful to know that we may be granted more time with this man who we love so dearly, but at the same time we're aware of the risks involved, and so we are nervous & afraid as well. Additionally, the worry of the expenses involved are a constant concern. In the months following his surgery, he will be required to reside within close proximity of his medical team, and he will need extra care while his body adjusts to his new lungs.
He's a good man, who's worked very hard and has lived a modest life. He's a devoted husband, a loving father, and the World's Greatest Papaw. He's compassionate, industrious, inspirational, always hilarious, and a friend & role model to so many. We love him so much and we need your help. Any amount , no matter how small will help pay for living arrangements and at home care & therapy.
Thank you for your time, and thank you for your prayers.
