Dad's Funeral and Memorial Expenses

It is very hard to figure out where to start when talking about our Dad… But everyone who knew him will tell you he was a warm and gentle soul. The most important thing to him was for you to always know you were special and loved. Dad was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his own back and would do anything within his power to help you. Many of our friends knew they had a safe place with Him and could talk to him about anything. After he passed, this was reiterated to us by so many of our childhood best friends.
Like so many people in the world, Dad’s upbringing was very hard on him. We think that made him determined to always walk in his expression of love and kindness. It also pushed him to one of his true loves – music. We may be a little biased, but Dad was the best drummer we ever saw or heard. He might not have played the same thing twice, but he played the heck out of any song no matter the style or genre. He is our hero in music, and though in his eyes he “never made it big”, he will always and forever be our favorite musician of all time. Even when we didn’t see eye-to-eye, this was ALWAYS true and always will be.
Dad is going to be missed by so many people. He is so blessed to have people thinking of him from all over, other countries even! We haven't met a single person yet through this that didn't say the words, “I loved that guy!!” We miss him so much and it’s so hard to believe we can’t hear him respond to us when we talk to him now.
We are beyond grateful that we had such an extended time to be with him before he left on his next great adventure. In the moments right before passing he told us all how much he loved us and took his last breath in all our arms. We love you so much dad! With all our hearts we miss you!
As most of you know – this was very unexpected and came on very quickly. Dad was only 59 and had made many health improvements in the last several years. In fact, he lost over 100 lbs by himself!
Because of this coming on so unexpectedly, not much was prepared for and there wasn’t any life insurance, so all costs are out-of-pocket for our family. After meeting with a funeral director and going over the costs, it’s shocking how much everything is going to cost and all we want to do is honor the amazing man that is our father. What makes it harder for us is that all the places we’ve spoken to require payment up front… so we need to get things rolling nearly immediately… and this is a time when we all just wish we could sleep for several days without going anywhere.
Anything helps at all – and please know your contribution is so incredibly appreciated…beyond words. It is hard to give an answer to so many of you asking what you can do to help ease our pain. Any help with this would be a blessing for our family.
