On 7 September 2018 my nephew Jude was born, weighing 6 lb 13oz. The entire family was filled with joy at the new arrival, including Jude's big brother Ty, who was looking forward to having a little bro to take care of. Things were looking bright for everyone, as my sister's family moved into a bigger house and prepared for their new life with Jude.
A few weeks later tragedy struck, Jude's father Tim was rushed to the hospital with symptoms of cardiac distress on 4 October 2018. He was admitted to the hospital and transferred to the ICU with heart failure. Tim has severe damage to his heart and doctors are unsure if he will recover. He suffers from hyperthyroidism which has caused heart problems in the past but never to this degree.
We all hope Tim recovers, but my sister Holly is now faced with the possibility of raising two children as a single mother. She is unable to work so soon after having a child, and has lost the support of Tim's income. To make things worse, Tim does not have health insurance and the cost of health care in our country is astronomical. We are unsure when she will be able to return to work given the cost of child care and the absence of the children's father.
I am asking for help from anyone who is willing. The money donated will go to directly supporting Holly's family, this includes daily needs of the children, housing costs, child care, as well as the medical costs incurred by having Tim hospitalized.
