Dad Strife by a Stingray

Donation protected
Last Sunday morning on 18th June 2017, our 65yr old Dad was doing what he loved the most; fishing on the beautiful Western Australian beach in Floreat.

Soon after we caught a stingray and he was very excited with the catch and this is when the accident struck.

It all happened so fast. Right after this picture was taken while we were in the process of releasing the stingray, it managed to whip the tail and lodge the barb in our dad's foot. We quickly cut the barb and rushed him to Sir Charles Gairdner Emergency Department for treatment.

He was admitted in straight away by the excellent nurses in Sir Charles. Even though the barb is still in his foot and the intense pain, he managed to crack a smile for the picture.

The barb was deep in his foot and he needed surgery.
The first surgery went well when the barb is taken out from the foot and the second surgery was needed to clean everything out due to the nature of biomarine wildlife.

Warning: the next picture might be a little bit graphic. It is the barb taken out from the foot.

This is where we need your help. Regrettably, our dad does not have any travel health insurance. He came to Perth for a visit just a day before all of this happened and now he's in recovery. Our dad is in good spirits and still love fishing, though we think our mom might ban him from fishing off the beach.

We honestly can't afford the rising cost of his medical accident and hope you could spare a few dollars to help his recovery. Even spreading the word out will help us greatly. Thank you so much for reading and sharing.
