Lily and her parents need help

EDIT 9/9/14 The outpouring of support from people has been unbelievabe. You have empowerd me to stand for my family and help create a new way of being for us. For years it felt like nothing could change, but with such a showing of real love and support from people all over Los Angeles, San Diego, and beyond, I cannot help but think this will cause a true revolution in how my family functions. I am so grateful.

There is a plan--this is more than just helping a family into a new home. This is clearing the space to teach everyone how to budget, how to plan ahead, how to have conversations about savings and spending, how to be empowered in our vast and complicated social system, and how to live sustainably. It's about pooling resources to help begin to bring a family out of poverty and into a power that will affect the next generation of children.

I put the goal at 10,000, but it only begins to cover what is needed. Please don't stop. 6,000 gets them a place to live (first, last rent and deposit), and some money for food, and some money to help me pay off what I owe as well. The whole amout of what my family owes in the in many tens of thousands, but I am just looking to get them started again.

 Shoghi's introduction:

Lily, my dear wife and partner in what has been the most soul enriching decade of my life~ Needs help with her family. My family as well really, but the weight she has taken on from essentially choosing to support a house full of people has gotten out of hand.

Long have we tried to hold our own as well as help them, but I feel the time has come to at least give it a go to ask for help from our community. I don't want to see her great-grandmother, of the kids of the home, or her parents, or her, suffer because of their inabilty to make ends meet.

And I know that Lily, the amazing educator and saint that she has been, cannot last long with this amount of stress on her plate. Aside from any monetary help, anyone that has specific sight through the red tape towards job placement for senior citizens, or in general about disability help from the government is greatly welcomed. Thank you all so much, and I bless everything you do and have helped us to be in the past, present, and future. 8) !

The story of why this all started:

My sisters (Andrea, Genesis) and I need help.

More accurately, our family needs help. And I've had multiple people tell me to reach out to my community for the help I need, that maybe somewhere out there lies the answer to the massive problem that faces my family. Allow me to outline, in an attempt at brief detail, what happened...

My family was evicted on August 31st. They have depended on my father for many years to support them, and he has just not been able to do it for a while now. They buckled under the rent, and under the debts already owed, and under the weight of too many people in one home.

My family, the people who live in my parents' home, equals:
-49-year-old, charismatic, sweet mother who is taking care of
-my 94 year-old great-grandmother who can no longer walk.
-My grandmother, who is 74, speaks very little English, can work as a seamstress
-my father, 73, who used to make money by getting people to invest in companies, but has not in a very long time, and lands in the hospital once every couple month with heart problems
-my uncle, 43, who works as a part-time butcher, though has some skills as a mechanic
-his wife, 45, who was hit by a car 18 years ago and is physically disabled and has disorientation and vertigo
-their three children, ages 3, 8, and 10 (11?)

Our mother hasn't worked in many years too, and now she's trying to get a credential to be a therapist for drug addicts, but she has a lot of trouble going to class because my family has no car and she has to take care of Great-Grandma.

I, Lily, cannot help them monetarily any more, and neither Andrea nor Genesis is in the position to help. I gave my mother a credit card (under my name) a couple years back to pay for necessities (food, toilet paper, gas, etc) thinking that someday, someday, my father would make the sale needed to pay it off. My father has not made that sale. And because of this, I now owe far above my means in credit card debt, which I am now beginning to pay off, little by little.

This fund was opened because I had no idea what to do anymore. I couldn't see my family on the street, but cannot contribute money, and I felt helpless and hopeless. This fund is because perhaps you, my community, will have an answer for me. Perhaps this act of vulerability and honesty will open a door that I can not see because I've been staring at this crumbling building for too long. Perhaps a miracle will happen.

Thank you for listening
