Lisa's Kenya Missionary Trip

Dear Friends and Family,
Recently I was invited to join a team of medical staff that will be traveling to Kenya for a 10 day medical missionary trip in June 2018. I was honored, but unsure if I wanted to embark on such a journey due to the risks of traveling to a third world country. After thinking long and hard, I decided to set aside my fears, accept the invite, and offer my time and skills to help others! The purpose of this trip is to provide medical services such as GI procedures to people who do not have access to medical facilities. On June 20th 2018, our team of approximately 10 medical professionals will arrive in Nairobi, take an eight hour bus ride into the remote region of Migori, set up camp in a secured compound, and soon after will begin assessing the local patients and performing esophagogastroduodenoscopies (procedure for visualizing the esophagus, stomach, and small bowel). Many conditions that we will be assessing for are different kinds of bacteria from ingesting contaminated food and water, ulcers from untreated diseases, and cancers that have been linked to prolonged exposure to hut smoke. Many of the patients will walk for days to seek medical help, so it is crucial that we work diligently and efficiently from sun up to sun down to ensure that we provide care to ALL that visit the compound. It will be a demanding and exhausting trip, however, I’m VERY excited to dedicate/donate my time and medical skills of 18 years to make a difference in someone’s life. In order to make this medical trip possible, I need your help! First and foremost, I ask for prayers that our team stays healthy and returns home safely to friends and families. Secondly, this trip is costly and so any amount of donations will be greatly appreciated! The money I am raising will be used towards ground transportation, housing, and the two armed guards that will accompany us for the duration of the trip. With one generous donation made and money I have saved, my airfare has already been purchased. If you are unable to donate, but still want to support my trip, please share my page.
