On Thursday, May 16th, our beloved friend and neighbor, Monica Ionescu Pirnog, passed away leaving behind her husband, Dan, and their two children, Yannis, who turns 14 on June 30th, and Andreea, 11.
Monica loved her children deeply and fiercely, and it's our wish to continue her dream of seeing Yannis and Andreea grow and thrive, and to suffer as little as possible in the days and years ahead in the absence of their mother's love. We would also like to compensate for the loss of income due to their mother's passing so that they can lead a life that's as normal as possible as we know Monica would have wanted.
With this in mind, we're raising money for Yannis and Andreea that will be made available to them for their day-to-day needs (clothing etc.) as well as--we hope--travel, summer camps etc., and maybe even college savings if we exceed our goal as we dream of doing.
Andreea and her Mom hoped to see the Ariana Grande in concert on May 30th at the American Airlines Arena, while Yannis is a big Miami Heat fan. The children also dream of traveling to Greece to visit Monica's brother, and of returning to Romania (where their parents are from) more frequently.
Our community is very international and a lot of us will be traveling throughout the summer, so our focus right now is to ensure that Yannis and Andreea have plans in place for the two months out of school.
