Katie's Medical Expenses

Last May my older sister Katie fell ill and was hospitalized for 42 days. She spent time at both Maine Medical Center and Lahey Hospital in Mass. While at Lahey she seemed to be recovering and could return home. We were all excited and happy to see her home again. However, our joy was short lasted when Katie contracted a fever in late August. This was only the beginning for her and her family. She was immediately sent once again down to Lahey Hospital, where they began to run tests. While we still don't know what is the cause of her liver failure, the only way she can leave the hospital is with a new liver. As a family, we were devastated to hear that she needs a whole liver meaning ,us sisters can't just give her part of ours, which we would do in a heartbeat.  Katie has always been resilient and there is no one with a bigger heart, bad things happen to good people, and this time it was my sister. 

Now she has been in the hospital for almost a month and we are all patiently waiting for her to get a liver. Along with my family, Katie has a loving S.O. and four children waiting for her at home. A 18 month old daughter, 4 and 9 year old sons, and a 12 year old stepson. Rob  is doing all he can to work and support their family. My mother and sisters are babysitting as much as they can. However, her bills are starting to pile up. I am reaching out to family, friends and anyone else with a big heart, because we need help.  

Donations will go towards medical bills for Katie, childcare for her kids back home, as well as, helping their needs at home while Katie is unable to work.  Her medical bills will not be covered completely by insurance. Anyone who knows our family, knows that we pride ourselves on being able to take care of ourselves and each other, but we can't this time. Katie needs help that us alone cannot adequately provide.
