Mission to South Africa!!

I’m so excited to share that I will be traveling to South Africa in two and a half weeks with a mission team of seven people from my home church, Santa Cruz Bible. We will be serving as counselors for a racial reconciliation and leadership camp for 40 teenagers with P.L.A.Y. (Purpose. Leadership. Adventure.Youth). P.L.A.Y. was founded by local Santa Cruzan Lisa Poll (now Rind :) to raise up South Africa's future leaders and to "heal the scars caused from Apartheid".  The curriculum for the camp is based on Rick Warren's, "Purpose Driven Life".  What I especially appreciate about this camp is that all the kids will have a chance to hear the about the gospellove of Jesus and get baptized into His family.  Click on the links below to learn more about PLAY and Lisa's story.

Some more details.  We will arrive in Johannesburg on September 27th, then make our way to Pretoria for a few days of training in preparation for five days  of adventure camp.  The kids will spend part of the day learning about God's love and purpose for their lives and the rest of the time will be spent outdoors teambuilding. We will end the trip with a day of debrief at a wildlife preserve where we'll have the opportunity to see some of South Africa's natural beauty  before we head home on October 8th. 

Here's how you can help...! I am looking for Senders, people who feel called to sow into me, the SCBC Missions team, and the “eternal fruit” that WILL come from this trip.  Each member of My team is raising  support for the cost of their airfare ($1500) and the cost of camp lodging and food for the time that we are there ($1000), totaling $2,500 per person.  In order to go, I am taking unpaid leave from my job which means, exercising my faith muscle to raise an additional $1000 to replace lost wages. This makes my personal “Sending” goal, $3,500 instead of $2,500.
