Would you like to join in Habesha Momma exciting vision of bringing pride, joy, hope, stability and freedom to people of all ages in Ethiopia?
As our first major project, we are working to open a primary school for 100 children in a small town outside of Addis. This area is in dire need of a school, and through a generous partner, we already have the grounds, including a building!!! We will be focusing on raising the start-up funds needed to adapt the current facilities to accommodate school rooms; supply the needed furnishings and classroom supplies; and hire indigenous staff members to operate the facility, which is targeted to open September 2015.
Habesha Momma is already changing lives in Ethiopia! By partnering with Endihnew Hope -- an official NGO located on Mt. Entoto, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, we recently helped nine amazing women who are skilled ceramic artists. The training and income generation program completed in May 2014 has opened opportunities for them to be able to support themselves and their children. Our next joint project in that area will be the building of a medical facility on the mountain, to help the population gain access to medical care and medications they need. Many of the people in this area are HIV positive and just having access to medical facilites will be life changing.

Another way we our bringing immediate access to health and hope to the people of Ethiopia is by providing clean water for people in villages that do not currently have access to clean water through Friendly Water for the World and bio-sand water filters. For around $80 you can provide clean water for a family for up to 30 years.
Other outreach efforts that will be taking place in September include delivering clothing and shoes already collected by several amazing churches here in the States to share with the children as they begin school in Addis. We will also be starting a parent education program to help impoverished mothers in the area learn to care more effectively for their newborns.
Future plans for delivering hope and making change? We have lots of them! For example, we hope to eventually be able to provide scholarships to Ethiopian students hoping to attend university or higher education, who cannot afford it on their own.
We are also working on a men's outreach program with some local Ethiopian friends... And last but not least, discussions will continue during the September Ethiopia mission trip on plans to develop a program to help women who have been trafficked into prostitution, helping them find a way off the streets and into hope.... more on this to come!
